Welcome to the SECOND ANNUAL Quitters Singing and Talent Show, where we turn dreams into... slightly better dreams for up to $1,000 in cash prizes (depending on how many tickets we can guilt you all into buying). Due to last year's success, we've increased the top prize by 50%!

Schedule

Sing-Along: "Beloved Animated Soundtracks"

Instead of managing a karaoke bar where not everyone gets the chance to sing, we're encouraging everyone to join in for an hour as members of the Quitters crew lead vocal exercises and familiar songs for both young and old.

Main Event: Singing / Talent Competition (9 PM – 11 PM)

Do you have the pipes to make Whitney Houston weep? Or a talent so jaw-dropping we'd better have a doctor on standby for dislocation issues induced by the performance? Or at least the courage to make the audience laugh? Sign up, bring your A-game, and let our panel of top-tier Quitters launch you into stardom...

The Structure

After people have finished pouring in and the libations are practically flowing out of their eyes, we'll encourage everyone to get seated as our suave and gallant host Jacey and world-famous talent scout "Sammy Sonic" guide the audience through the ups and downs of the evening. A select few VIP tables are available at the front, where drinks will be served straight to your table by our lovely bottle hussies (details to come) and there will be a break before the final round so everyone can stay happy and fed.

Participation

While the Quitters judges make the final call, the audience will have a say through a voting website on their phones. The results will be displayed in real time on a big screen after each performance in a very public bid to sway the judges.

How to Compete

Spots for both the singing competition and the talent show are limited.

NO STANDUP COMEDY ALLOWED. We love a good bit and are happy to include comedic performances, but we're putting our foot down on standup comedy. It's highly subjective, and anyone who's any good at it ain't comin' to our show.

Performance Criteria

Performances will be evaluated on a thoughtful (yet entirely random) blend of:

This year it is not strictly a singing competition. That said, a truly transcendent vocal performance that blows our tits off may very well eclipse the rest of the rubric and carry the night on its own. Judges are fair, attentive, and occasionally susceptible to bribes. I personally don't recommend touching them unless you've cleared that with them first.

Audio

We've taken big steps to level up the audio quality this year. We've secured the expertise of a trained audio engineer with 15 years of experience serving the GVA in both live music productions and major corporate events.

FAQ

What are the prizes?
Prizes depends on ticket sales. The total prize pot will scale all the way up to $1,000 if we sell out (last year we did!).

How many tickets are for sale?
Just over 200.

Will there be good, affordable drinks?
Yes.

Will there be seating for all?
Yes.

Will there be a break or two?
Yes.

Will there be food?
We're trying to secure a food truck outside, there's usually one hanging around and there are plenty of options right nearby. We'll also be providing snacks at the bar.
